Municipality invests in the future with Scholarships for young university students from São Paulo

During the Easter holidays, the president of the Municipal Council of São Brás de Alportel, Vitor Guerreiro, and the Vice-president responsible for education and youth, Marlene Guerreiro, met with the young scholarship holders, to learn about their journeys academics and their future projects, but also their difficulties and challenges.

With the award of scholarships for access to higher education, the aim is to guarantee integrated and close support to these young people whose effort and merit are valued by the municipality that intends to value and support them in building their careers.

In the 2023/2024 academic year, four new scholarships were awarded to students taking courses such as Computer Engineering and Chemical and Biological Engineering and five scholarships were renewed for São Brasense students taking courses in the areas of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Law, Architecture and Fine Arts.

The municipal executive of São Brás de Alportel thus continues the measure of awarding Scholarships to students from São Brás de Alportel to access higher education.

These Scholarships are aimed at São Brasense students who access higher education, with lower economic income and showing good results.

The municipality maintains the extension of the conditions for access to scholarships for students who attend Integrated Masters, in situations where the pursuit of a career, which concerns academic training, requires attending an integrated master’s degree.

This meeting was also joined by the technical team from the Municipal Social Services responsible for monitoring this project, who are responsible for assessing the possible need to add additional support to this Scholarship Program, particularly to help meet the growing expenses for displaced students. .

Applications for the award and/or renewal of Scholarships are always made in November and are submitted to the Municipality’s Social Services, with the regulations available on the municipality’s website.

With this measure, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel reaffirms its commitment to education and promoting access to higher education for all citizens, recognizing the potential of young local talents and investing in the future of the community.
