Municipality of Tondela buys historic building in the city center: Gazeta Rural

Tondela City Council recently acquired a historic building in the city center. The property, adjacent to the Terras de Besteiros Municipal Museum, located in Solar de Sant´Ana, was purchased privately for 220 thousand euros.

The building, located in front of the Main Church, is located in the Special Protection Zone (ZEP) of Solar de Sant’Ana, which was classified as a monument of public interest in July 2022.

This establishment of the ZEP aimed to avoid the emergence of interventions with a decontextualizing impact, safeguarding the maintenance of the fundamental characteristics of the building and the prospects for its contemplation and enjoyment, thereby guaranteeing the safeguarding of this heritage.

The acquisition of the property is essential for a future expansion of the Terras de Besteiros Museum, and some municipal services may also be installed on site.

The negotiation process, which took a few months, culminated in the municipality exercising its right of preference.
