Blue Ribbon adorns buildings in Arronches

-

As has happened in previous years, the Municipality of Arronches is marking the International Month for the Prevention of Child Abuse, thus associating itself with the challenge launched by the local Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People, as way of raising awareness in the community.

This justifies the placement of a blue bow on the facade of the Town Hall, as well as the lighting with the same tone, during the night, in the administrative services facilities of the City Council. Also noteworthy is the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Luz, an imposing building that is already a reference in the municipality, which is also highlighted in blue at night.

In addition to the municipality, other institutions accepted the challenge of the Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People of Arronches, whose building is also adorned. These are the Parish Councils of Assunção, Esperança and Mosteiros, the Arronches School Group and the Arronches Health Center.

It should be remembered that this movement emerged in 1989, when Bonnie Finney tied a blue bow to the antenna of her car, with the color representing the bruises spread across the bodies of children who suffer child abuse, as was the case of her grandson who ended up being fatal victim.
