The finalists for the AHRESP Awards are now known, which distinguish the best that is done in Portugal, and across borders, in Restaurants, Accommodation and Tourism Promotion.
The initiative under the responsibility of the Portuguese Hotel, Restaurant and Similar Association aims to reward the projects, companies and professionals that stand out the most in the defined categories, thus sharing best practices with all actors in the HORECA channel.
For three months, AHRESP traveled the country from North to South, and also the islands of the Azores and Madeira, to identify projects that met the characteristics to be candidates for the Awards. The finalist list thus covers establishments from the north to the south of the country, increasing the quality of the existing offer in our country.
In Alentejo, two establishments were selected as finalists in the Restaurants category: Páteo Real Restaurant (Alter do Chão – Portalegre) and the Tombalobos Restaurant (Portalegre)by renowned Chef José Júlio Vintém.
In the category of best Tourist Accommodation, the Herdade da Malhadinha Nova (Albernoa – Beja).
Voting for the 5 finalists in each of the 10 categories takes place from April 25th to May 20th, through the AHRESP Awards website. The winners will be announced at the gala that will take place on June 21st in the Salão Preto e Prata at Casino Estoril.
The 8th edition of the AHRESP Awards was the most popular ever, with more than 400 applicationshaving gone from 16 to 13 categories – 10 of them voted by the public and 3 categories nominated by the Management and Honor Committee (Portuguese Lá Fora Award, Personality of the Year, Mário Pereira Gonçalves Award).
AHRESP renamed the Career Award category, which was renamed the Mário Pereira Gonçalves Award, in honor of the previous President of AHRESP, who led the Association for more than 40 years. The Selection Committee that evaluated the applications is made up of 39 individuals with high technical knowledge in the areas represented.
