Inauguration of the Etnoparque do Cotrofe and other events fill this weekend’s calendar

The Pombal Parish Council will inaugurate, on April 27th, the new Cotrofe Etnoparque. This effort to requalify the old picnic park, which involved an investment of around 275,000 euros co-financed by the Terras de Sicó Association, was dubbed by the municipality as the “great work of Pedro Pimpão’s mandate”.

The ceremony, which takes place at 4pm on Saturday, will be attended by Pedro Machado, Secretary of State for Tourism. There will also be an ethnographic representation of the Broa Cycle by the Ranchos da Freguesia, the presentation of a promotional film and the inauguration of the mural by Pombalense João Ribeiro.

The new Etnoparque is part of a project of “investments over the last 30 years at the level of primary qualifications”, explained Pimpão during the press conference held by the executive at the end of the working visit to the parish of Pombal on March 26th. The project was initiated during the mandate of Diogo Mateus, when Pimpão held the position of President of the Board, taken by Carla Longo since the election of the current president.

During the meeting on March 26, the Chamber also presented other works at different stages of development in the parish, such as the Casarelo and Emporão Green Parks, the requalification of the EB1 Conde Castelo Melhor school, and the opening of an avenue that “will connect the Continente roundabout to Urbanização do Barco”.

Pombalíadas

On Saturday morning, the Pombalíadas will take place, an initiative aimed at children in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education in
schools in the parish of Pombal. promoted by the Parish Council within the scope of Curricular Enrichment Activities (AEC).
The objective of this initiative is to raise awareness and encourage the practice of sports among the educational community of Pombal, through a series of athletics events based on the modern Olympics.

Stroke and Dovecote risk screenings in bearings

Between 9am and 12:30pm on Sunday, there will be a free screening center for stroke risk factors at the Pombal Parish Council headquarters. It is also here that, during the afternoon, the participants of another edition of Pombal em Rolamentos will be welcomed, in a race that is part of the National Championship of Cars with Bearings and Trikes. Starting at 2pm, the carts and trikes will start the race on the slopes of the Castle until Rua Albergaria dos Doze.
