Former soldiers from Infantry Regiment No. 12 (RI12) will gather tomorrow for lunch and will pay tribute, in the Guard, to “Captain Valente” –

It was these men who are part of the history of the 25th of April in Guarda, soldiers at the time in the barracks that housed RI12. Since October last year, they have come together to find a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the revolution, which they experienced firsthand. In addition to the reunions, these former soldiers will pay tribute to Major General Augusto José Monteiro Valente, José Pires Veiga, former April officer in Infantry Regiment nº12, told Rádio F. José Veiga praised the decision of the Guarda chamber, as the just tribute was finally paid to Captain Valente. These ex-soldiers, tomorrow, April 25th, at 9:30 am will pay homage to Captain Valente, in the old Guarda Military Barracks. Other initiatives have already been developed that were thought up by this group of ex-military officers from April, among them, is the theatricalization of the report prepared on the participation of RI12 in the April 25th revolution, in collaboration with the “Calafrio” theater group, highlighted José Pires Veiga. Other initiatives were thought of, but will not be implemented yet, among them was a Historiography of the various events experienced in the post-revolution period. José Veiga launches this challenge to society. Finally, the former military man from April leaves a message to the younger generations, and reminds them of the importance of the main values ​​of April, Freedom and Democracy.
