Praça da República is filled with music and rhythm this Sunday, April 28th. The remaining activities, from April 27th to 29th, will take place at the partner entities’ facilities.

World Dance Day is next Monday, April 29th, and the Garden City celebrates this day with a weekend and program dedicated to this art, recognized as a universal, free, aggregating and inclusive language, and promoter of ideas such as freedom of expression and equal rights.

The initiative takes place from the 27th to the 29th of April and is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Viseu and around a dozen Schools, Companies and artistic formations in the municipality, in the area of ​​Dance: Alidanças, Energética, Escola de Dança Lugar Presente, Dançado with Diferença, Street Gymn Forlife, Pedro & Fernanda, Bailado Giselle Brites and Viseu a Dançar.

April 27th is filled with open classes in Classical Ballet, Hip-Hop, Modern and Contemporary Jazz, as well as Classical Dance, Kizomba and Bachata technique workshops. The day culminates with the presentation of all classes at the Streetgymn School, with the show “Kontrastes”, at Palácio do Gelo Shopping.

On the 28th, Sunday, the activities take place at Praça da Republica (Rossio) and Parque Aquilino Ribeiro, with various workshops, exhibitions, presentations and workshops, ending the day with a performance by DJ Nelson and Marcelo, at Rossio.

The last day dedicated to the celebrations, April 29th, begins with a presentation of the dance video “Continuamos Aqui/We’re still here”, made by Cati and Tomás do Viseu a Dançar, at Escola do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico da Ribeira , at 9:45 am.
This project brings together three institutions in Tondela, namely the Santiago de Besteiros Social and Parish Center, the Tourigo Social Center and the São Salvador de Tonda Parish Social Center. It arose from the need to combat loneliness in the elderly and to raise community awareness of the importance of involving the elderly in cultural and social contexts. The project was supported by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Center, within the scope of the Cultural Action Support Program. Later, in 2023, he was chosen to be part of the 31st Almada Dance Fortnight, at the Internacional Dance Festival, in the Dance Video Show.

At 10:30 am, the Mundão School Group hosts the video dance presentation “Flores em Ti” and a conversation with two performers from Dançado com a Diferença.
This dance video is the result of the final work of rebuilding trust and rapprochement between everyone, after the pandemic and the physical distancing imposed by it.
On April 29th, there are also several activities available throughout the afternoon, such as an open Classical Ballet and Hip-Hop class.
