Via Algarviana celebrates 15 years with the inauguration of new walking routes

Via Algarviana celebrates 15 years in May and to mark this date it will launch four new walking routes: three small routes, in the municipalities of Albufeira, Loulé and Silves, and a connection to the GR13, also in the municipality of Silves.

To celebrate the anniversary, on April 28th, an inaugural route will be made on one of the new small routes, the PR15 LLE – Entre o Barrocal e a Serra, which starts and ends in Alte.

The walk is part of the Alte Arts and Cultures Week program. On the 12th of May, the walk on PR5 ABF – Entre Aldeias, in Paderne (Albufeira) will take place.

The PR15 LLE – Between Barrocal and Serra – is a route through the landscapes of the parish of Alte (municipality of Loulé. This is the longest of the four new routes, measuring 17.60 kilometers, but it is possible to divide it into two parts , which can be done separately.

The PR5 ABF – Entre Aldeias is a short 7 kilometer route, in the middle of Barrocal, which starts from Paderne (municipality of Albufeira).

The PR2 SLV – In the Heritage Steps of 16.30 kilometers, allows you to discover the heritage of Vale Fuzeiros (municipality of Silves).

Link 12, a linear route of 7.30 kilometers, starts very close to the Funcho dam (in the municipality of Silves) and allows walkers and cyclists to divide sector 9 of the Via Algarviana into two parts, making a small detour that takes them to Vale Fuzeiros.

The new routes were installed within the scope of the “Via Algarviana – Pelos Caminhos do Património” project, promoted by Associação Almargem, with co-financing from PDR 2020 – Rural Development Program 2014-2020 and Portugal 2020.
