Jornal de Leiria – Theatre: on stage and in the street, several groups stage the spirit of April

Based on a text by Luís Mourão, performed by five groups (Te-Ato, O Gato, O Nariz, TASE and Manipulartes), the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April is celebrated at the Festa do Povo, in Leiria, with many hours of theater.

The performances begin and end in different locations, as if halfway through the actors fled the PIDE. “And in the end there is also an interruption, everyone is arrested”, says the author. “It’s a story of cops, of course, and robbers”, which involves prostitutes and lawyers. “It’s not a serious text, it’s a text to laugh at, I hope.”

The play is inspired by the example of José Vilhena and the revue theater in resistance through humor and is, according to Luís Mourão, “a bizarre play” in which “the central question” is everything that is said between the lines.

Meanwhile, this Thursday, there is a giant puppet show: Lumen, a Love Story, by SA Marionetas, with Sónia Tavares (The Gift), in the context of the program that, in Alcobaça, celebrates half a century of democracy. Starts at 9pm in the town hall, with a journey through the streets to the Monastery.

Why Aprilby Teatresco, directed by Pedro Wilson, premieres on Saturday, 27th, at 9:30 pm, and repeats on Sunday, at 4 pm, always at the Cineteatro Actor Álvaro, in Vieira de Leiria.

Also on Sunday, a show for children, Liberty Streetby Teatro do Botão, directed by Cristóvão Carvalheiro and dramaturgy and scenography by Susanna Rodrigues, to be seen after 4 pm at ACR Comeira, in Marinha Grande.

Next Tuesday, April 30th, at 9pm, Leirena presents Waves of Freedom at Artillery Regiment No. 4, in Leiria.
