3rd edition of Pastel Alvites and Broa de Serpins Week from May 5th to 12th, 2024

Promoted by the Serpins Parish Council, in partnership with Pastelaria Sonho Doce and Pastelaria Casa do Pão, with the support of the Lousã City Council, the initiative aims to promote some of the most traditional gastronomic products in the parish: Pastel Alvites and Broa from Serpins.

For eight days, Serpins pastry shops will present their products, promoting the tasting of this pastry and bread in their establishments. In 2024, the solidarity aspect will be one of the organization’s biggest bets, with visits to some IPSS in the region (Irmandade da Nossa Senhora das Necessidades in Vila Nova de Poiares and ARCIL in Lousã), to present and offer a taste of these delicacies to users. The program also includes a visit to the Miranda do Corvo Market, as well as a workshop on Meal Day in the Parish of Serpins, among others.

After the success of the previous year, the renowned Chef Flávio Silva is once again the godfather of this 3rd edition. It should be noted that Pastel Alvites is related to the history of Serpins. The idea was born to make a unique but different pastry. Not with endogenous products from the region (such as honey and chestnuts), as there are already several delicacies of this kind, but a very original pastry with pumpkin and walnuts. A pastry that appears, to make a difference, with products that are also grown on our land and which is quite tasty.

The traditional Broa de Serpins arose from the desire to revive the traditional recipes of our ancestors. The use of the best flours, including those produced at Moinho de Serpins, as well as the care applied to each batch, make this Broa a unique product, which is constantly shipped to all corners of the country and the world. A bread that maintains traditions that also values ​​the importance of water and the Ceira River for the people of Serpinense.

Program:

– From May 5th to 12th, products will be sold in Pastry Shops, with surprises for customers;

– On May 6th, product presentation and tasting at the Lar da Irmandade da Nossa Senhora das Necessidades in Vila Nova de Poiares;

– May 7th, product presentation and tasting at ARCIL in Lousã;

– May 8th, product presentation and tasting at the Miranda do Corvo Market;

– On May 9th, workshop on Meal Day, at Praia Fluvial de Serpins, an event that will be attended by several Associations from the Parish of Serpins;

– It is also planned to promote the products on radio and television.
