Students awarded with merit scholarships by the Union of Parishes of Coimbra

The Union of Parishes of Coimbra (UFC) awarded students who achieved the best academic performance during the 2022/2023 academic year, with the award of merit scholarships.

The ceremony, which took place at the UFC headquarters building, was attended by UFC president, João Francisco Campos, and vice-president, Carlos Pinto, as well as the parents and guardians of the awarded students.

In total, 14 merit scholarships were awarded, divided into five categories:

1st Cycle – Diogo Araújo Gouveia, Francisco Miguel Serens Ferreira, Madalena Gasalho Nicau Santos Martins, Madalena Neto wasterLain;

2nd Cycle – Elora Dana Barbosa Mota, Gonçalo dos Santos Gomes Artur, Gustavo Jorge Tomae Pereira Rodrigues, Maria Miguel Fernandes da Fonseca;

3rd Cycle -Miguel Maranhão da Silva Brito;

Secondary -Maria Catarina Henriques de Campos Figueiredo Carvalheira, Maria Luísa Mendes Gouveia de Almeida e Loureiro, Maria Martins Gomes, Rodrigo Rodrigues Margato;

Higher Education – Alice Pinto Jerónimo.

In his speech, the president of UFC, João Francisco Campos, highlighted the importance of recognizing academic merit and encouraging study, as a way of contributing to individual and collective development. “These scholarships are a sign of our commitment to supporting young people who dedicate themselves to studies and who demonstrate great potential”, said João Francisco Campos. “We believe that education is the key to a better future and we want to give our young people the tools they need to achieve their dreams,” he added.

The award-winning students were grateful for the recognition of their work and for the opportunity to be encouraged to continue studying. “It is an honor to receive this scholarship” and “this scholarship will help me continue studying and pursue my goals” – was heard in the room when the scholarships were handed out.

The merit scholarships awarded by UFC are an annual initiative that aims to recognize academic merit, encourage study and support the excellent performance of primary, secondary and higher education students residing in the Union of Parishes of Coimbra area.

The value of the scholarships was as follows: 1st Cycle – 150 euros; 2nd Cycle – 200 euros, 3rd Cycle – 250 euros; Secondary – 400 euros; Higher Education – 500 euros.
