Alcochete Municipal Assembly involved in identity controversy

-

On April 23rd, the Alcochete City Council held a Municipal Assembly to present and discuss some proposals such as the approval of the 2023 Accounts Report.

Before the agenda, the CDU deputy, Álvaro Costa, questioned the president of the Samouco Parish Council, Leonel Fina, also a deputy representing that local authority, about the fact that he mentioned on the day of the general strike public, February 23, 2024, and the only one present at the Samouco Parish Council and CTT Post that operates in those facilities, the name of “Luís Filipe” for the reception of all CTT business hours for the post’s service.

After being questioned, the president of the Parish Council, Leonel Fina, did not respond to the question presented by deputy Álvaro Costa, mentioning some private episodes and the personal life of the CDU deputy that had no connection with the subject of debate.

The District Gazette requested on April 24th by letter delivered to the secretary of that Parish Council and after several failed attempts to send it by email, some questions presented to the president and other executive, as also informed to the president of the Parish Assembly and other leaders of benches represented in that body, a clarification on the matter presented in the last assembly regarding the controversy involving the employee “Luís Filipe”.

To the request for clarification/information that our newspaper requested from the executive in the person of the president, the secretary, Clara Vila Cova, responded “According to the document delivered by hand to the administrative services on April 24, 2024, at the Parish Council Counter , I inform you that the situation you refer to has been duly reported by me as secretary of the executive and legal substitute for the president to the competent entities for their respective assessment in official terms”, and we are aware that the authorities are also investigating this matter.

The president of the Parish Assembly, António Santos, also responded to our newspaper that “since your request is related to the activities of the Board’s executive, it is not within my competence to respond to the request”.

They were the only entities that responded to our request on April 25th. We also contacted CTT and the Audit Inspectorate of the General Finance Inspectorate, entities from which we await the necessary clarifications.
