Almancil “wins” renovated garden and a children’s playground on the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April

A renovated garden and a children’s playground were inaugurated in Almancil, this Friday, the 26th, in a ceremony carried out by the Loulé City Council and the Almancil Parish Council, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.

On Rua Poeta Aleixo, a renovated space for intergenerational stay and social interaction was born, Jardim da Vila. This recreational area has been redeveloped and now includes new equipment, namely exercise machines and a new floor in the playground.

«In addition to improving the level of safety and aesthetics of the location, this intervention was intended to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle with the paving of an area extended to outdoor activities (e.g. Zumba, CrossFit, etc.. ). Trees were also planted that will bring shade to the space», according to Loulé City Council.

In Jardim das Comunidades, the heart of Almancil and the town’s social center, the Municipality created a new recreational area in the northwest part. More equipment for children to play, with the expansion of the age ranges for which they are intended, improvement of the pavement and reinforcement of the trees are the main elements of this work to requalify the public space, designed by the young architect Sara Nunes.

«On this opening day, many children wanted to open the park for the first time and the joy of the young ones, between laughter, laughter and lots of fun, reigned on this sunny afternoon in which freedom was celebrated», described the municipality.

Joaquim Pinto, president of the Almancil parish council, thanked the municipality for this work that was «an aspiration of many people over time».

«Our work is for people, but if these people are children the pleasure is even greater because it is a joy to see children jumping and laughing», highlighted Vítor Aleixo, president of the Chamber in relation to this requalification.

The investment in the total of the two spaces – Jardim da Vila and the Jardim das Comunidades playground – amounted to 180 thousand euros.

«Since 2013, Almancil has changed very quickly and for the better», defended the mayor of Loulé, also announcing that the inauguration in this parish of a large-scale project, the Multipurpose Pavilion, which will be called “Pavilhão April 25″.
