Sporting will proceed with disciplinary action for alleged aggression and threats against members of the board of directors in the game against FC Porto, on the 31st round of the I Liga, an official club source confirmed to Lusa this Monday.

The lions will proceed with their participation with the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), alleging that Alexandre Pereira, a member of Sporting’s board of directors, was attacked by Luís Gonçalves, administrator of FC Porto’s SAD.

The club also highlights that Rodrigo Pais de Almeida was threatened with death by Luís Gonçalves, in incidents that occurred in the stand at Estádio do Dragão.

Contacted by Lusa, a source from FC Porto said that this initiative by Sporting is a “fun maneuver” given the “incorrect and disrespectful” behavior of the president of the Lions, Frederico Varandas, in the stadium’s stands, stressing that there are images.

Images released on social media show Frederico Varandas allegedly reacting to insults, sending a kiss and waving goodbye to the Porto fans.

On Sunday, leader Sporting placed themselves five points away from their 20th Portuguese football champion title, by drawing 2-2 at FC Porto, with a brace from Viktor Gyokeres finishing off.

The Swede, the competition’s top scorer, came on at half-time and scored in the 87th and 88th minutes, for the Lions’ 18th consecutive game without losing (16 wins and two draws), after Evanilson, at seven, and Pepê, at 41, they scored for the Dragons, one day after André Villas-Boas succeeded Pinto da Costa as Porto president.

With three rounds to play, Sporting, which had eight consecutive victories and ended with 10, due to the expulsion of Marcus Edwards (90 minutes), gained 81 points, against 76 for Benfica, while FC Porto isolated itself in third , with 63.
