Production talks about the life of the Beast of Gévaudan.

The Pact of Wolves transforms a true story into a mix of genres, while giving us an A-list cast, a stylish production and martial arts action with a dark and dense atmosphere. The film, directed by Christophe Gans, addresses the real story of Beast of Gévaudana predator who allegedly took the lives of 100 people in the 1760s in France.

Victims were found with their throats ripped out and sometimes even decapitated. The beast prompted the mobilization of troops, soldiers, bounty hunters and nobles to exterminate it. The hypothesis of its nature varied between a werewolf, a serial killer or a wolf with abnormal dimensions.

In this version of the story, the natural scientist Gregoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Biahn) and his loyal friend, Mani (Mark Dacascos), are sent by the king to uncover the bloody events. During their investigation, they encounter a hunter (Vincent Cassel), a fanatical priest (Jean-François Stévenin), a courtesan (Monica Belluci) and a mystical secret society.

The production team performed a series of effects mixing CGI and animatronic dolls by Jim Henson, who has already participated in other works such as The Dark Crystal. Gans and his team created a Hollywood-level work of dark fantasy that caused such a sensation that Gans was recommended for the film adaptation of Silent Hill.
