If Emma Stone won the most important golden statuette in cinema with La La Land and Poor Creatures, in 2019, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress with The Favourite (in the original) – but ended up being surpassed by Regina King for her work in If on Beale Street Speak. Stone delivered a phenomenal performance as Abigail Hill, considered by critics to be one of the film’s highlights.

On Rotten Tomatoes, The Favorite has a 93% critical approval rating, with a consensus that Lanthimos delivers a film with rich and timely subtext, fueled by impressive performances.
