After saying he would dream of playing him, did the star just tease his presence in a future DC film as Bane, Batman’s towering nemesis who has already appeared in two feature films? Not so fast.
Is Dave Bautista’s dream about to come true? The actor from Dune: Part 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had expressed his desire to play Bane, a great enemy of Batman already seen in two films, and for which Bautista would not need to transform too much to have the necessary construction.
Born in 1993 in the comics, this mercenary sees his strength increase tenfold thanks to a super steroid injected into his cerebral cortex. Endowed with superior intelligence (which is more evident in Batman – The Dark Knight Rises than in Batman & Robin), he manages to discover who is hiding behind the Batman mask, and remains famous for having broken his back.

Batman – Part II or The Brave And The Bold?
Dave Bautista shared, in a post on the social network, concept art by graphic designer Boss Logic representing Bane. And it didn’t take long for some to get excited, seeing this as proof that the actor would lend him his features. Following Batman or The Brave And the Bold, the hero’s adventure linked to the future DC Universe.
Although filming on Batman Part II is expected to begin this year, this option would be the more logical of the two, as The Brave And The Bold’s Bruce Wayne has not yet been cast. But didn’t Dave Bautista simply share a look he considered successful for a character he likes? Or even that Boss Logic tagged him in the post in question, knowing of his love for Bane?
“I don’t think I can do Bane justice anymore.”
The latter is perhaps the most likely. In January 2023, Dave Bautista stated that he had drawn a line under his dream: “At this stage in my career, I don’t think I can do Bane justice anymore.”he told Insider at the time of the release of Batem à Porta. “I don’t know if I’ll be able to deal with the physical part and I don’t think I’ll have the longevity to record these films. I don’t know if I’ll be that man.”.
Certainly, participating in The Batman – Part II would require a shorter investment, in just one film. But it’s not certain that Matt Reeves planned to include this in his story. However, if he gave up on the dream of playing him in the cinema, Dave Bautista’s love for Bane remains intact in the face of this sharing.
