After the great ‘Annihilation’ and ‘Civil War’, Alex Garland reveals that he has lost his love for directing films and will retire

In an interview with The Guardianthe acclaimed filmmaker Alex Garland (‘Annihilation’) revealed that he has no plans, at least in the near future, to return to the director’s chair after the thriller ‘Civil war’starring Wagner Moura It is Kirsten Dunst (via The Wrap).

Garland commented that the idea is to step away from his role as director after the film’s official release on the day April 12th on the international circuit.

“Nothing changed. I’m in a very similar state.”he counts. “I’m not planning on directing in the near future.”

The director also stated that he lost his shine and love for cinematographic art, emphasizing that “Actually, I still love movies”but “filmic art does not exist in a vacuum”.

Garland admitted that her love for cinema cannot overcome the pressure she feels every day to deliver her work: “The pressure doesn’t come from money. It comes from the fact that you’re asking people to trust something that ultimately doesn’t seem very trustworthy.”

To exemplify the comment, the director mentioned his acclaimed feature film ‘Ex_Machina’from 2014:
