Released last Friday (29), Hunter’s Soul and the new Netflix action movie. Although the public reception was not the best, with 56% approval on the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and a surprising 4.5 stars on IMDB, the feature film directed by Mandla Dube has already become one of the most watched productions of the red film company.
In the plot, a retired assassin returns to active duty after discovering a dangerous conspiracy in the South African government. According to Netflix’s description, Hunter’s Soul promises a lot of action, suspense and shootings.

Is Soul of a Hunter based on a true story?
Quite cinematic, the story written by Deon Meyer (Devil’s Peak It is Jagveld) is completely fictional. The feature film is an adaptation of the screenwriter’s book of the same name, released in 2004.
A little different from the big screen adaptation, the book follows former government agent Thobela Mpayipheli on a rescue missiona computer hard drive, which is the target of several powerful groups.

Although they don’t share many similarities, both works are set in South African settings, taking place in settings such as Cape Town. Faithful to the local culture, the production also casts actors from South Africawith emphasis on the protagonist Bonko Khoza, who gives life to Zuko Khumalo.
