Josh Trank is a filmmaker who, during high school, had the idea of ​​writing a story about three teenagers with superpowers. Time passed and, years later, he decided to take the project off the ground, serving as a context for the creation of the 2012 feature film, Limitless Power.

Mixing a found footage format (the famous amateur cameras) with superheroes, Chronicle (in the original) tells the story of three friends who gain special abilities after ingesting a mysterious substance.

At first they use their powers for harmless games, but little by little the feeling of invulnerability begins to gain strength. In this way, our protagonists soon exceed the limits of fun, leading a person to death.

A TEENAGE DREAM TAKEN FROM PAPER

Trank’s dream of telling his own superhero story began to come true in the late 2000s when he met screenwriter Max Landis through Facebook. The director was looking for someone to discredit him from his dream, but the opposite -fortunately – ended up happening.

“I started searching names on Facebook looking for anyone in Los Angeles that I knew who would tell me that what I was doing sucked.”said Trank during a past interview with Polygon. “I thought, ‘Oh, this guy [Landis] It will definitely surprise me and be rude about what I did,” But that’s not what happened.

After contact with Landis, production began to take shape, mainly after an agreement was reached with 20th Century Fox. The studio provided a budget of 12 million dollars for the film, also inviting Michael B. Jordan, Dane DeHaan and Michael Kelly for the main roles.

With a resounding success in theaters, Power Without Limits raised an impressive 126 million at the box office worldwide, putting Trank’s name on the scene once and for all. In 2015, the director helmed another superhero film – Fantastic Four – but this was a major failure.
