Five Nights At Freddy’s comes to streaming

There’s fresh news on streaming services. Five Nights At Freddy’s – The Neverending Nightmare arrived this Friday (26) in the Amazon Prime Video catalog. The feature film released last year, based on the video game series of the same name created by Scott Cawthon, was until then only available for purchase and rental.

Released worldwide in October last year, after eight years of development, the supernatural horror film directed by Emma Tammi (Haunted Land) caused controversial opinions among the public and experts.

Although it was widely criticized by the international media for being a confusing and not at all terrifying production, the feature film was a box office success, grossing more than US$290 million, in return for the US$20 million used in its budget. Furthermore, it was a hit among game fans, guaranteeing a continuation of the plot, scheduled to hit theaters in 2025.

The horde of killer animatronics

Starring Josh Hutcherson (Hunger Games), playing the role of young Mike Schmidt, a boy who carries heavy childhood trauma, the film tells the story of a shopping mall security guard who is fired from his job and starts working as a night security guard at the pizzeria Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

The place, a popular spot for kids in the 80s, now left to ruins, still has all the animatronics from the time when it was a success. Giant robots that, Josh soon discovers, have been possessed by the ghosts of children who disappeared years ago in the pizzeria and, during nightfall, come to life terrorizing whoever is there.

Now, hunted by the terrifying characters, Josh must figure out not only how to survive the robots’ attack, but also how to stop them from turning his little sister into one of them. A mission that is not easy, full of chases and outrageous assassination attempts.

Sequel is already in production

While details about the film’s sequel have yet to be revealed, Universal Pictures confirmed at CinemaCon 2024 that a next chapter in the franchise is in production.

So far called Five Nights At Freddy’s 2it will once again feature star Josh Hutcherson in its cast and, most likely, will once again draw from the source of video games for its story.

According to Screen Rant, filming for the title will begin in July this year and the film should be released in the fall of 2025 in the northern hemisphere — somewhere between September and November in Brazil.

It is worth remembering that the original title is the highest grossing in the history of Blumhouse, a producer famous for horror films such as Paranormal activity It is Run!and that the sequel has been generating great expectations for the studios involved.
