On the morning of last Thursday, March 21st, the 10th, the trucks arrived at Rock in Rio Lisboa, via Ponte Vasco da Gama, and traveled through the main streets and avenues of the city, on a journey that lasted around an hour and a half, heading to Parque Tejo Lisboa, to begin assembling the venue.

At the festival’s new home, and to welcome this delegation, there was the Rock in Rio team and the installation teams, who toasted the start of construction of the new Cidade do Rock. “With the countdown to the event already underway and less than 100 days until the doors open, the start of assembly represents an exciting milestone in the preparation of this very special edition that celebrates 20 years of the festival in Portugal”, highlights the organization .

“We have arrived! This moment not only marks the practical beginning of the installations, but also symbolizes the spirit of unity and collaboration that defines Rock in Rio, bringing together the different teams, from more than 300 companies, who contribute to making this event possible ”, celebrates Roberta Medina, Vice-President of Rock in Rio.

The new City of Rock promises to surprise with an “even more incredible experience for the thousands of fans who are preparing to live four days of pure magic”.

Compared to the old enclosure in Parque da Bela Vista, Parque Tejo Lisboa offers a larger area and a series of improvements that increase public comfort. With 30,000m2 more space for the public, which provides more fluid circulation and a significant increase in the number of toilet facilities – 150 more cabins -, which will guarantee easier and faster access. The operational area also grew by 40%, offering teams more space and resources to guarantee the best experience for the public.

The restaurant area will be expanded, with 39 bars available to the public, 17 more than the previous edition, and 234 linear meters of food service, compared to the 175 linear meters available in 2022. With this increase, visitors will be able to enjoy an even more diverse gastronomic offer capable of meeting the public’s diverse dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Both Palco Mundo and Palco Galp will also undergo significant growth in size and capacity. The World Stage, known for being the epicenter of the festival’s main performances, will have its scenography increased from 894m2 to 989.50m2, providing even more space for artists and shows. The Galp Stage, which has given prominence to several emerging talents, will increase from 370m2 to 680m2 of scenography, in addition to receiving a new giant screen on the side, expanding the public’s visual experience.

“With a considerable increase in audiences on both stages, fans will be able to enjoy unforgettable concerts with more comfort and visibility. The new venue will also accommodate a new stage, further enriching the diversity and dynamism of the festival”, says Rock in Rio.

Other improvements include an increase in accessibility, with 90% of the park accessible to people with reduced mobility, and adapted bathrooms in all sanitary points of the park, as well as the installation of 60 more drinking fountains compared to the old enclosure to ensure hydration adequate number of visitors.

With an expansion of entertainment spaces, including a larger circulation area in front of Rock Street.

The 10th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa is scheduled for the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of June 2024, at Parque Tejo-Lisboa, where the new City of Rock will be built and will host the edition celebrating 20 years of the festival in Portugal.
