Bruce Dickinson, then, has come here several times with Steve Harris and company, and several times alone as well. As a solo artist he even recorded his live album “Scream For Me Brazil” (1999) in São Paulo; as a speaker, last year alone he was in São Paulo twice (more than a lot of Brazilians!) — first at Summer Breeze Brasil and then at Comic Con.
In a recent interview with the Mexican website Atmósferas Magazine, he spoke a little about his geek side.
“I’m a closet geek [risos]! I’m a different type of geek because I’m basically the analog type, I don’t freak out about the digital world. I understand that it has its advantages, but most of the time it only serves to keep people away from their jobs and discourage them from thinking for themselves. But yes, I’m a geek who loves spaceships, rockets, space and (obviously) planes; stuff like that. I love submarines, I’m a big fan of trains… Any form of mass transportation excites me.”

Bruce Dickinson is known for his mind that cannot sit still, and between tours and recordings he finds time to do things like practice fencing, write a book, host a radio show and even become an airline pilot. For years he was the pilot of Iron Maiden’s private plane on their tours, the Ed Force One. He only stopped doing so in 2022, but not because he didn’t want to anymore, but because English pilots are forced to retire when they turn 65. , as a security measure.
