Eloy Casagrande? Slipknot plays 1st show with new drummer; watch videos

This Thursday (25th) in Los Angeles time, the Slipknot played their first show with the new drummer, whose identity has not yet been revealed. But, as far as the group’s Brazilian fans are concerned, there are no doubts left: Eloy Casagrande It’s Brazil in Slipknot!

The presentation was announced at the last minute by the group and took place in the small bar Pappy & Harriet’s which, as we told you here, has simply received Paul McCartney on a historic night. Now, Slipknot will go on to play at the Sick New World festival – the first time that (the supposed) Eloy will meet the crowd that usually follows the band wherever they go.

In addition to the revelation of the new drummer, it is worth remembering that tonight’s performance also featured a tribute to the debut album Slipknotwhich turns 25 years old in 2024. Therefore, the band members used visuals that refer to that time, including traditional dreads in Corey Taylor.

So far, there is no sign that Slipknot will confirm Eloy’s entry into the band. The last few times it changed members, the group was quite mysterious about the new members – something that, of course, becomes much more difficult when we are talking about an already well-known musician with such striking characteristics.

As you can see in this video, the new Slipknot drummer’s playing style is very similar to that of the Brazilian, even when compared to his version available on YouTube for “People = Shit” (compare below).

Furthermore, the physical resemblance is unquestionable, and fans of the band and the drummer also point to the tattoos that were visible despite the jumpsuit. Eloy Casagrande

As Grave, Eloy Casagrande became one of the greatest drummers on the planet. He, who began his career at a young age and stood out as a child prodigy on the instrument, also has works with names such as Andrew Matos and Gloria before reaching the biggest stages in the world with Sepultura.

As part of the band, he was elected the best drummer in the world twice in a row and attracted attention not only from the international media, but also from big names in the instrument such as Lars Ulrichof Metallica.

In total, Eloy recorded three studio albums with Sepultura. His debut was with The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heartin 2013, and he also released Machine Messiah in 2017 and the acclaimed Blockin 2020. The pandemic record SepulQuartafrom 2021, ends as his last record recorded with the band.

Even before his departure from the band, in fact, the Brazilian was considered one of the favorites to take over the position of Jay Weinbergfired from the North American band in 2023, even by websites in other countries.
