William and Kate “extremely moved” by messages of support after cancer announcement

-

“The Prince and Princess are very touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to HRH’s message. They are extremely touched by the public’s warmth and support and grateful for their understanding of their request for privacy at this time,” the spokesperson said this Saturday, according to the BBC.

Kensington said it will not provide new details about the princess’s clinical situation. Kate will remain on sick leave indefinitely while she undergoes chemotherapy treatment.

On Friday, Kate Middleton, wife of the heir to the British throne, William, announced, in a video, that she had been diagnosed with cancer and that she had begun chemotherapy treatment, asking for respect for the family’s privacy. The princess stated that the news was “a huge shock” and that it took “time” for her to recover from the surgery and also “to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis”, her three children.

After the announcement, the princess received several messages of support, both from world leaders and the public.

Kensington Palace had given few details about Kate’s health other than to say that it was not related to cancer, that the surgery had been successful and that recovery would keep the princess away from public duties until April.

King Charles III, who assumed the British throne in September 2022, was also diagnosed with cancer in early February.
