Russian President Vladimir Putin described as “total nonsense” the West’s statements that Russia, after Ukraineprepares to attack Europe, in a meeting with military pilots in the Tver region, north of the country.
“What they say about us going to attack Europe after Ukraine is complete nonsense, it is intimidation of its population”, said Vladimir Putin quoted this Thursday by Russian agencies.
Putin stated that “US satellites fear a big and strong Russia”, but assured that they have no reason for this fear.
“We do not have any aggressive intention towards these countries”, he stressed.
Putin said it was “complete nonsense” to talk about the possibility of “an attack on other countries, such as Poland and the Baltic countries.”
The president added that statements about the Russian threat are “simple delusions.”
“It’s nonsense”
Putin recalled that in 2022, the military expenditure of the United States, leader of NATO, was 811 billion dollars (around 749 billion euros), while that of Russia was 72 billion.
“With this correlation, are we going to fight with NATO? It’s nonsense,” he said.
At the same time, he warned that the F-16 fighters that will be supplied to Ukraine will be considered “legitimate targets” regardless of where they operate.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine, with the argument of protecting pro-Russian separatist minorities in the east and “denazifying” the neighboring country, independent since 1991, after the disintegration of the former Soviet Union.
