Silent Hill 2 has received an age rating from the regulatory authority ESRB. Recently, the game had been registered in South Korea and is now also undergoing regularization in North America.

As identified by user Wario64 on the social network X (or Twitter, if you prefer), the remake of Silent Hill 2 was rated for adults, something that is not surprising given the franchise’s history.

The description mentions that the game features scenes and illustrations with representations of violence, blood, character impalement, a character suffocated to death with a pillow and enemies with body parts sewn together.

Despite not bringing any surprising information, the age rating indicates that the game will receive news soon. Due to the development time, the release date will likely be announced in the coming weeks.

After receiving a trailer that was highly criticized by players, the president of the Bloober Team studio claimed that the material failed to bring a faithful representation of the game. Furthermore, Piotr Babieno said he understands fans’ negative reactions.

The executive said that the developer is not responsible for marketing, blaming Konami for the trailer. He emphasizes that the video does not reflect the true spirit of the game, criticized by players for bringing a lot of action and little terror, in addition to the “cleaner” visuals than the original.

Finally, Babieno says he believes that when players see the actual gameplay of Silent Hill 2 Remake, they will judge the title completely differently.
