ANDChoosing underwear seems like an almost unimportant task. Do you put aesthetics first, comfort second and health? Shazia Malik, a gynecologist, quoted on Huffpost, a blog aggregator, explains that there is a type of underwear that increases the risk of infections: those made of lace.

More specifically, “Lace underwear itself is not inherently bad for vaginal health, however, lace is typically made from synthetic, non-breathable materials such as nylon or polyester.”

These are tissues capable of “retaining heat and moisture against the vulva” and have a negative impact on the “bacteria that keep the vagina healthy”.

In addition, “a humid and hot environment can increase the risk of irritation and infections such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush infections in some women.”

Taking this into account, he states that the healthiest choices are underwear made from natural, breathable fibers, especially in the groin area.
