Al Nassr beat Al Ahli 1-0 this Friday, thanks to a solitary goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, through a penalty.

A game that started very dull in terms of opportunities, for both sides, as the first real dangerous move appeared only in the 38th minute, when Demiral went header against the post, following a corner kick.

At the end of the first half, Al Nassr could have taken the lead. Cristiano Ronaldo still celebrated, but he was in an irregular position and after resorting to VAR, the referee disallowed the goal. The score remained zero, therefore, until half-time, but not before a very ugly episode with Otávio happened. Following CR7’s goal, the former FC Porto player was hit with a glass, thrown into the stands by a fan and even had to be assisted.

The second half had more emotion and as soon as it opened, Ronaldo wasted what seemed easy, after an offer from Al Ahli’s defense, Mendy was quicker and literally took the “bread out of the mouth” of the Portuguese international.

Even so, CR7 would end up being decisive for the game, as in the 68th minute he benefited from a penalty. After resorting to VAR, the referee signaled a foul by Ibañez and from the eleven meter mark, Al Nassr’s top scorer reached 36 goals this season.

Until the end, Al Ahli still had a few opportunities to reach a draw, but failed. Therefore, Al Nassr returned to winning ways, four games later and extended their advantage over Al Ahli, who are third in the Saudi League, with 47 points to nine points.
