The videos were viewed this Monday in court, in the fifth session of the trial in which nine members of the fan base, including Fernando Madureira, are accused of attacking police officers who were protecting the arrival of Benfica fans with stones and torches.

Chief Aníbal Damas, head of the PSP, who was involved in the security operation for the game in question, spent the afternoon identifying through the images the people involved in the attacks with stones, sticks and pyrotechnic torches on his colleagues.

The police formed a security cordon to prevent the Benfica fans who arrived on the Dragão metro from crossing paths with the supporters led by “Macaco”. These would be more than 200, including Hugo Carneiro, known as “Polaco”.

According to the witness, Madureira and Hugo Carneiro acted with their faces covered, but there was no doubt about their identification, even remembering the clothing they were wearing at the time.

Urged by several defense lawyers for the nine defendants, the head of the PSP always maintained his “certainty”, guaranteeing that he had known them for a long time and that, therefore, he was able to identify them immediately.

Fernando Madureira and “Polaco”, in preventive detention as part of the recent “Pretoriano” operation, attended the hearing. The second physically, unlike the leader of the Super Dragons, who has been following the trial via videoconference, from the jail attached to the Judiciary Police, where he is located.

The final arguments of the case were scheduled for April 29th.
