Palmeiras loses and is at a disadvantage in the Paulista final :: zerozero.pt

With the first of two legs of the Campeonato Paulista final concluded, between Santos and Palmeiras, the advantage is in the hands of Fish (1-0).

Fabio Carille’s team, which will play in Série B this season, took the lead at the start of the second half, through Rómulo Otero, and will now appear at Palmeiras with an advantage, in the second leg scheduled for the next April 6th.

«The tiredness was apparent»

After the match, amid criticism of the calendar and the different rest time for the two teams, Abel Ferreira analyzed the match and expressed confidence in the turnaround:

«Everything is open. Santos is an experienced team, only one kid came on in the second half. As much as it is a Series B team, it is experienced. You won today, congratulations. Next Sunday, in the ‘sty’ [alcunha do estádio], we play with the support and vibrancy of our fans. We are the turnaround team [reviravolta] and love, and that’s what we want to see Sunday. Unfortunately, our opponent will have a free week and we have a game in the middle of the week [San Lorenzo na Libertadores]and we see that a day of preparation makes a lot of difference”, stated the Portuguese coach, stressing that the calendar has left his team fatigued.

«Our players tried, they ran, but the fatigue was apparent. When we see more missed passes than usual, something is wrong. Let’s change kids, do an analysis and we’ll have a truck of stone to unload on Wednesday, and then a truck of sand at Allianz. We will need the help of our fans to unload these trucks,” he added, criticizing sporting bodies regarding the organization of the calendar.
