Ralf Rangnick could be Thomas Tuchel’s successor as coach of Bayern Munich. The 65-year-old Austria coach confirmed that he was contacted by the German club.
«I informed the Austrian Federation of this matter, especially because we maintain a very trusting relationship. Therefore, at the moment, my focus is on the national team and the European Championship”, he clarified, adding that he is not worried about the financial aspect.
The revelation was made during an interview with 90 Minuten.at. Faced with the journalist’s insistence on the “timing” of the decision, Rangnick did not hide his plans.
«When Bayern confirms that they want me, I will have to consider whether I want to accept the project. But everything will go through the federation. I must consider whether I will be able to make a difference, to achieve success», he reiterated.
During this interview, the Austrian coach was enthusiastic about the European Championship.
“I have a close relationship with the players and I am sure they will not play better just to guarantee that I will continue for the next four years. We set out for the Euros with ambition. We have to win in the most difficult group. Afterwards, we don’t need to fear anyone. And I feel people are excited and pleased,” he concluded.
Austria will face Poland, the Netherlands and France in Group D of the European Championship.
As for Ralf Rangnick, the German coach admits that his future is yet to be defined. Remember that in 2022 he coached Manchester United. Previously, he accumulated experience at Leipzig, Schalke 04, Hoffenheim, Hannover and Stuttgart.
