AAcquired from Nordsjaelland, just over a year ago, in exchange for a fee of around nine million euros, Andreas Schjelderup did not succeed at Benfica, so he ended up returning to his ‘home’, in search of the best version.
This season, in Denmark, the 19-year-old player has already scored seven goals and ten assists after 32 official matches, and the football director of the club that saw him ‘born’ into the world of football, Jan Laursen , says he has no doubt that Clube da Luz “can still expect great things” from him.
“Why not? For some reason they bought him, because of his quality. I’m sure he will recover (…). He has a very strong character, a good mentality, he works a lot and I consider this return to be a very good opportunity to have more minutes before having a new chance at Benfica”, he stated.
“But we also know that there are many good players at Benfica. Timing is also important, knowing when is the right time for a young man to have his opportunity”, he added, in an interview with this Thursday’s edition of the newspaper O Jogo.
The director stressed, moreover, that the striker’s “plan” is “to return” to playing with an eagle on his chest, so a possible acquisition is ‘card off the table’: “He is a Benfica player and that is what he He’s waiting. He wants to play for this great club. We’re just focused on the goals we have in the championship.”
