Rafa Nadal beats 16-year-old ‘kid’ in historic duel

-

NAt the Masters 1000 in Madrid, Rafa Nadal overcame 16-year-old Darwin Blanch (6-1, 6-0) in just over an hour, in a historic duel. Now De Miñaur awaits him, against whom he lost a few days ago in Barcelona: “It’s been a week, now I feel better”, said the Spanish tennis player after this triumph.

In the duel of generations between Rafa Nadal, 37, and Darwin Blanch, 16, the champion’s tired body got the better of the teenager’s nerves, in his second game at a Masters 1000.

In the duel with the biggest age difference in the history of the Masters 1000, Spaniard Rafael Nadal made his story count in Madrid and came out on top.

In the second round, the home tennis player will see Australian Alex de Minaur again, in the sixth duel between them. Rafa won the first three (Wimbledon 2018, Australian Open 2019 and ATP Cup 2020) and lost the last two, this year in Barcelona and last year at the United Cup.
