Apple invested a lot, and of course, promised in the same way, with the bet on TSMC’s 3nm process, which in turn gave life to the Apple A17 Pro SoC that we can find in the iPhone 15 Pro and also in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, with the iPhone 16, there is no longer a new process to try, and thus provide great innovations in the field of efficiency and performance. There is only room for optimizations. What does it means? Well, everything indicates that we will have a performance increase of around 5~10%. He arrives?

iPhone 16 Pro will only offer 5~10% more performance. More expensive!?

Therefore, as you can imagine, Apple is already working hard on the A18 Pro SoC, in order to bring to life the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, or even… Who knows… An iPhone 16 Ultra.

However, as there is not much to change until TSMC’s 2nm lines become available for mass production, everything indicates that the increase in multitasking performance of the new iPhone will be, at most, 10%. Which will obviously also depend on the task. In other words, very briefly, the increase in performance will be… Very low.

This means that the Apple A18 Pro will reach 8000 points in the GeekBench 6 test. Which is not bad at all, but it is also a value that will be in line with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen4 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400. It won’t be a special level of performance!

In fact, there are those who say that new generation Android processors will be able to reach 10,000 points in this same test. Which could land Apple in hot water. Yes, it’s true that Apple will continue to offer greater graphics performance, and it will also be superior in single-thread. But… You won’t win at everything anymore.

What happened?

Well, for many long years, Apple was incredible in the design of its processors. This is exactly why it decided to say “goodbye” to Intel, to equip its entire range of products with its own processors.

However, in 2021, several key engineers on the design team left Apple to go to other pastures. Which is completely normal in the world of high technology. Engineers are always switching teams.

However, everything indicates that Apple was not able to source similar talent, and this is starting to have some impact on its annual launches.
