PS5 Pro will be three times more powerful and will support 8K games

Rumors about Sony’s next console don’t stop and specifications were recently released that put it far ahead of the current version. If the specs are correct, the PS5 Pro will have three times the graphics power of the PS5 and will support performance mode gaming at 8K resolution.

According to Tom Henderson, a leaker of PlayStation topics, the PS5 Pro could be launched at the end of 2024. Henderson confirmed a leak of information shared by the Morre's Law is Dead channel on YouTube and revealed some of the console's specifications. The information comes from a PlayStation developer portal.

According to the data, the PS5 Pro will come with a GPU with machine learning capabilities and up to 33.5 teraflops (Floating-point Operations Per Second) of graphics performance. This value guarantees optimal rendering performance 45% faster than what we see on PS5. The PS5 Pro's graphics card would also offer performance of ray tracing three to four times faster than the current console.

The list of specifications released on YouTube and shared by Henderson talks about a new scaling based on machine learning. The PS5 Pro would use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which guarantees the best possible image quality. The developer portal mentions that PSSR surpasses FSR 2 with graphics that respect color and visual rendering.

Smart scaling is a topic of interest among users and game creators. Its presence on the console would guarantee an improvement in performance, as it would be possible achieve a stable 60 frames per second when gaming in 4K.

Information leaks about the PS5 Pro have been increasing

The revealed technical documents confirm Sony's intentions to develop a more powerful GPU that provides stable frame rates. In addition to the GPU, the PS5 Pro will feature an eight-core AMD processor with Zen 2 architecture. The main difference is that this chip was developed using the 4-nanometer process, which makes it more efficient than what is found on current consoles. The memory remains at 16GB of GDDR6 RAM.

A console with these specifications would hardly support the price of the current one. Unlike the previous generation, Sony was unable to reduce the manufacturing cost of its first update. Some analysts estimate that the PS5 Pro will sell for $599, however, others believe the price will vary between 799 and 999 dollars.
