More than 1,000 American drivers, 50% men and 50% women, with an average age of 41, were surveyed by MarketWatch (via Android Police). Data from Speedtrap.org was also added to the analysis.

The result concluded that an impressive 70% of drivers surveyed have a particular preference for Google Maps when it comes to avoiding speed cameras.

After Google Maps, Waze, also from Google, appears as the second most used navigation application by the drivers surveyed, with 27%. Not far behind the second is Apple Maps, winning over 25% of drivers who participated in the survey.

Overall, 34% of respondents said they had already been warned about a speed camera by a navigation application.

Although 70% of drivers use Google Maps to warn them of speed cameras, Waze is considered the best at this task, with drivers stating that it is 30% more effective than Google Maps and 20% better than Maps from Apple.

Google Maps users are most likely to drive above the speed limit (23%), followed by Waze and Apple Maps, with 11% and 9% of their users, respectively, saying they drive above the speed limit. the imposed limit.

For MarketWatch, a radar covers an area where the speed limit is lower “than the safest average speed of travel on a road”. These roads are monitored and followed by the police, who seek to strictly enforce the speed limit to generate revenue.
