“Dragon’s Dogma 2” is the second biggest release of 2024 on Steam. The RPG reached a peak of 200 thousand simultaneous players in its debut, and was second only to “Helldivers 2”, which debuted at the beginning of last month with 400 thousand players.

The game is also the biggest debut of a Capcom single-player on Valve’s platform. The launch surpasses popular titles from franchises such as “Resident Evil” and “Devil May Cry”.

“Dragon’s Dogma 2” is an open world RPG that attracts attention due to the number of activities available and the level of depth of exploration. Furthermore, it has stood out for its combat system, which has evolved considerably since the first game in the franchise, released in 2012, and its “companions” mechanic, which is very useful for completing missions.

Game has low approval on Steam

Although it is a sales success, players are not exactly satisfied. This is because “Dragon’s Dogma 2” presented a series of performance problems on the PC. The list includes frame rate drops on powerful PCs — which, obviously, has greatly irritated fans.

Another point that was much criticized by the gaming community was the game’s internal microtransaction system, which offers the possibility of acquiring some very scarce items in an “easier” way.

The developers said that the availability of some items would be limited on purpose. However, RPG enthusiasts point out that the sale goes completely against the original idea shared by the producers.

These problems made the game enter Capcom’s worst rated list on Steam, with just 53% approval. The Japanese company has already publicly acknowledged the problems in the title and promised to respond to fan feedback in a future update, but has not given any prediction on when it will be released for download.

“Dragon’s Dogma 2” is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
