FIt was in November 2004 that Blizzard officially launched ‘World of Warcraft’, an online game that has become one of the most recognized names in the genre and that, even in 2024, has more than seven million subscribers.

As reported by the website IGN, Blizzard was represented at the Game Developers Conference event through the General Manager of ‘World of Warcraft’, John Hight, who revealed the updated number of people who continue to pay a monthly subscription to enjoy the game online.

Although this number is far from the 12 million subscribers that ‘World of Warcraft’ achieved in 2010, the current number is still impressive considering that it has been almost 20 years since its launch.

It is worth remembering that, since then, ‘World of Warcraft’ has had a total of nine expansions, with Blizzard having already confirmed that it is working on the next three expansions – ‘The War Within’, ‘Midnight’ and ‘The Last Titan’ – as part of a trilogy called ‘World Soul Saga’.

Also note that, in 2019, Blizzard launched ‘World of Warcraft Classic’ – which aims to give players the opportunity to return to the original version of the online game.
