WhatsApp is testing a new way for users to make calls directly through its application, with the test of a new phone number dialing system.

According to the portal https://twitter.com/WABetaInfo/status/1782908603306832374?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1782908603306832374%7Ctwgr%5E279c40602bc5fc7a805754b4afecc2d745871b29%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neowin.net%2Fnews%2Fwhatsapp-reportedly-working-on-an-in-app-dialer-for-its-messaging-app%2Fthe latest version of WhatsApp Beta for Android has a numeric keypad system, similar to what is found in the calling application on any modern device.

This new feature seems to indicate that WhatsApp may soon allow calls to be made via the platform, to other WhatsApp numbers, without having to manually search for it. For now, the new feature appears to still be in development, with no details on when it will be available to general users.

This system can also be adapted for those who just want a quick call with another person who is also on WhatsApp, and do not want to maintain permanent contact there.

Finally, it is also possible that Meta has plans for WhatsApp to replace the system’s traditional contact application, allowing users to quickly start a call – and if the contact is on WhatsApp, that platform will be used.

However, for now, details of what to expect from this new development are still unknown. It still appears to be in an early stage of development, with no active functions.
