In 2016, HMD Global made headlines when it announced a partnership with Nokia that would bring the iconic brand back into the smartphone market, but last year it revealed plans to launch their own models. The intentions were reinforced with the “leak” of some details of one of the phones (supposedly) under development, but now it’s official.

HMD Pulse Pro, HMD Pulse and HMD Pulse+ represent the lineup for Europe and most international markets. HMD Vibe will arrive in the United Stateswith a price of around 150 dollars, presented as a competitor in the budget Android smartphone segment.

Among the models destined for the European market are the Pulse basic with a low-cost Unisoc T606 chip system, 4 GB of RAM, a 13 MP main rear camera and a 6.6-inch 90 Hz display. Pulse+ there is 8 GB of RAM, as well as a 50 MP primary camera.

The set of cameras in the Pulse Pro will differentiate the phone from other models in the line. The dual rear camera setup integrates a 50 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor, while the front camera records selfies at 50 MP. The phone is also released in three colors: Glacier Green, Black Ocean and Twilight Purple.

The Pulse, Pulse+ and Pulse Pro will be sold respectively for 139 euros, 159 euros and 179 euros.

HMD was originally the phone company that Nokia sold to Microsoft in 2014. In 2016 it purchased the operations and began launching phones under the iconic brand in the same year.

The company had already sold basic cell phones under its own name, but without reaching smartphonesuntil now.

The focus on launching budget phones is not surprising. Nokia-badged Android phones cover a wide range of price points, but are generally concentrated in the mid-range. With the first “batch” of smartphones, HMD wants to target exclusively cost-conscious userslook for cheaper models.
