We already know that artificial intelligence can be used for good things, but also for less good things and it was this last aspect that put Apple “in check” in the last days. The technology giant was warned by 404 Media that it had image editors in its app store that claimed to be able to “create non-consensual nude images”using AI models.

The warning was based on a report made by the website that analyzed the fact that some companies are advertising on Instagram to promote apps capable of “undressing any girl for free”. According to 404 Media, some of these ads took users directly to the App Store.

Apple did not initially respond to 404 Media’s request for comment, sent last Monday, but later ended up contacting the publication to request more information.

“Apple removed several AI image creation apps from the App Store after 404 Media discovered that these apps advertised the ability to create non-consensual nude images, a sign that app stores are starting to take more action against this type of content”, it can be read.

In total, Apple removed three applications from the App Store, but only after receiving direct links to the ads and specific pages within them in store, sent by 404 Media, adds .
