Gloria Maria spent New Year’s Eve taking care of her treatment and did not participate in the 2022 Retrospective. It was the second time that she had to leave the historic year-end program to take care of her health. The previous time, in 2019, she had been diagnosed with brain cancer after feeling bad and undergoing tests.
Gloria had to undergo emergency surgery at the time in order to remove an “expansive lesion” in her brain. In the operation, performed at Hospital Copa Star, in Rio de Janeiro, the tumor was completely removed and Gloria was soon able to go home.
From then on, the presenter had to undergo a series of medical procedures in order to fully recover. Away from television for almost two years due to the difficult recovery, Gloria Maria returned to work only in 2021.
