ANDn statements to CNN, the president of the PS, Carlos César, stated that António Costa’s presence at the Rosa Mota pavilion rally marks a legacy that the socialists are “committed to caring for and drawing the attention of the Portuguese to its value”.

At today’s rally, in which the socialists expect to have the largest mobilization of socialist activists and supporters of the current campaign, António Costa is expected to speak before the secretary general, Pedro Nuno Santos, and after the head of the socialist list for Porto, Francisco Assis.
Soon after early legislative elections were called for the 10th of this month, António Costa expressed his willingness to participate in campaign actions that the new party leader considered useful.
According to a PS source, in addition to his presence at the Porto rally today, the former socialist leader is also expected to participate in the traditional Chiado descent, in Lisbon, next Friday, the last day of the campaign.
In Rome, at the congress of the European Socialist Party (PSE), António Costa’s intervention is scheduled for this morning.
In addition to the participation of António Costa, interventions are scheduled for this congress by Stefan Löfven (president of the PSE and former prime minister of Sweden), Pedro Sánchez (leader of the PSOE and president of the Government of Spain), German chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frediksen.
At the Rome congress, in addition to the PSE’s objective of electing the current European Commissioner for Social Affairs, Nicolas Schmit, as a common candidate of the socialist and social democratic political family for the next European elections, the electoral manifesto of this political force will also be approved.
