A court request will be made for the death certificate to be drawn up in Clarinha’s name, containing information such as the definitive place of burial of the body, in addition to photographic and papilloscopic records.

The exact location of the collision and the vehicle that hit the woman were never identified, according to police. She was rescued by an ambulance, but she had no documents. Clarinha arrived at the hospital already unconscious and without being identified.

The woman was hospitalized in a vegetative state at the Military Police Hospital (HPM), in Vitória. No relative or friend visited her in all these years.

This Saturday (16), the doctor who cared for the patient for more than two decades, Colonel Jorge Potratz, told the g1 who was surprised by the authorization of Clarinha’s name.

“The Public Prosecutor’s Office released a note, we were not aware of this and there was no time to implement this situation. At least it can come out with a statement”, said the doctor.

He said that after the death, a man appeared at the Legal Medical Department (DML) of Vitória who believed he was Clarinha’s son and requested the DNA.

“As the DML only has the possibility of making a comparison with fingerprints, and Clarinha does not have them, a DNA test will be necessary. This entire procedure could delay the release of the body”, he explained.

The MP-ES reported that it carried out intense work for years to search for family members or acquaintances of the patient.

“In the year 2022, the demands related to Clarinha began to be forwarded to the Civil Prosecutor of Vitória due to the need to prepare the civil birth record, so that her existence could be legally recognized, guaranteeing her service within the area of health in public institutions and bodies. The legal action then began in September 2022, and, on Wednesday (13), the Court of the 2nd Court of State and Municipal Public Finance, Public Records, Environment and Saúde de Vitória upheld the request “to determine that the late birth certificate of the person nicknamed “Clarinha” be drawn up at the Civil Registry Office”, with the other necessary data”, says the note.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office also said that through the press it learned that “Clarinha” had died on Thursday (14), one day after authorization from the civil registry.

“In view of the situation, contact was made with employees at the Espírito Santo Military Police Hospital to inform them of the legal action and request clarification about the person who will be responsible for the judicial authorization for the release of the body, burial and other measures related to the death”, explained the MP.

The agency informed that it will continue to provide all assistance regarding the request in question. Colonel Potratz, a doctor who took care of Clarinha throughout these years, will be responsible for the bureaucracy.

He volunteered to be responsible for requesting judicial authorization for the release of the body, burial and other measures related to the death. For this reason, the MP-ES believes Clarinha will not be buried as a pauper.

“A judicial request will be made for her death certificate to be drawn up in Clarinha’s name, containing information such as the definitive place of burial of the body, in addition to her photographic and papilloscopic record, in order to enable possible clarifications if, in the future, a fact arises. new. In fact, the collection of genetic material will be requested for possible tests”, he explained.

Searches by degree of kinship

According to the Public Ministry, one day after Clarinha’s death, only on Friday (15), three families contacted the agency expressing interest in carrying out a DNA test with Clarinha in order to confirm possible kinship. The Public Ministry sought assistance from the competent bodies in relation to these demands.

According to the MP, for many years, through the Special Social Work Group (Getso), he worked on several fronts, issuing letters, carrying out investigations and demanding expertise. After the extinction of Getso, the investigation work continued with the 28th Civil Justice Prosecutor of Vitória, which adopted several measures, expanding the spectrum of search for identification.

More than 102 families contacted the MP-ES trying to identify Clarinha as a possible missing relative.

Of this total, 22 cases attracted more attention, due to the photos or the similarity of the data close to Clarinha’s past profile. After more detailed screening, four cases were discarded, due to incompatible information or the fact that the people sought had already been found.

The MP-ES divided the remaining 18 people into two groups to carry out DNA tests. However, the results were incompatible for familial traits.

The unidentified patient’s coma was considered high. “We classify coma on a scale of three to fifteen points. Fifteen is the patient awake and lucid and three is the deepest coma. She has no contact with us and that is why we consider a coma from seven to eight”, explained the retired doctor.

Clarinha was run over on Valentine’s Day, on June 12, 2000, in the center of Vitória. The woman was rescued by an ambulance, but she did not have documents, she arrived at the hospital already unconscious and without being identified.

Initially, Clarinha was taken to São Lucas Hospital. A year later, she was transferred to the Military Police Hospital, also in the capital, where she remained until the end of her life.
