The Sea Eagles have been awarded a controversial try to open the scoring, but the Roosters have hit back. Manly lead 6-4 after 20 minutes at 4 Pines Park.

The try to Lachlan Croker was a contentious decision as Manly fullback Tom Trbojevic chased the kick but didn’t contest the ball all the while making contact with James Tedesco, who dropped a Sea Eagles kick. Croker than scooped up the ball to score.

“I’m stunned that that isn’t a penalty for the Roosters,” Greg Alexander said on Fox League.

“What a surprise,” Warren Smith said.

MATCH PREVIEW

The Manly Sea Eagles will host the Sydney Roosters for their first home match of the 2024 season, with the Round 2 contest kicking off at 4.05pm AEDT on Sunday afternoon.

Manly star Jason Saab has been ruled out of the game after sustaining a hamstring injury in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The Roosters’ Spencer Leniu will be sidelined following his eight-week suspension for calling Broncos young gun Ezra Mam a “monkey” in Round 1.

The last time these two clubs faced each other at 4 Pines Park, the Sea Eagles won an 18-16 thriller.
