App driver who got stuck in hardware after crashing into bus dies; car roof was removed for salvage | Pernambuco

Late this Monday morning (18), the app driver who collided with a bus at an intersection in Casa Caiada, in Olinda, died while transporting a passenger. He was trapped in the vehicle’s hardware, which had the roof removed by the Fire Department to rescue the worker..

The man, whose name was not released, died at Hospital da Restauração, in the Derby neighborhood, in the center of Recife. According to the Fire Department, the corporation was called during the early hours of the morning, around 4:30 am, a few minutes after the accident.

In contact with g1 this morning, Hospital da Restauração (HR) had informed that the driver of the car had entered the health unit already intubated and in serious condition, at around 6 am. A multidisciplinary team was trying to stabilize the patient’s condition, but he died in the hospital.

According to firefighters, the bus driver had no apparent injuries, but needed treatment due to a change in blood pressure.

The passenger who was in the back seat of the car was taken to Hospital Esperança Olinda, in the same neighborhood as the accident. Until the last update of this report, g1 did not obtain information about his health status.

Expert talks about the conditions in which the car was found after crashing into a bus

• The accident happened around 4:20 am, at the intersection between Avenida Doutor José Augusto Moreira and Rua Manoel dos Santos Moreira;
• The bus was making the first trip of the day on the Rio Doce/CDU line and was only occupied by the driver;
• The Fire Department was called about ten minutes later;
• Due to the severity of the accident, firefighters removed the vehicle from the car to help the app driver;
• According to the Criminalistics Institute (IC), the impact was so strong that it caused the bus to enter a street that was not part of its route. (see video above);
• The traces found on the road indicate that one of the vehicles entered the wrong lane and one of them was traveling at high speed, according to the IC.
