The first death from dengue in Buritizeiro was recorded in the Case Monitoring Panel of the State Department of Health of Minas Gerais (SES).

The municipality’s epidemiology coordinator, Valéria Lacerda de Abreu, informed the g1 that the patient was female and 44 years old. She was admitted to Fundação Hospitalar Doutor Magalhães Freire, in Pirapora, on February 1st and died on the same date.

According to the coordinator, the woman presented the first symptoms of the disease on January 27th. She worked in Pirapora, but lived in the São Francisco neighborhood, in Buritizeiro.

The death of a 77-year-old woman is also being investigated and the municipality is awaiting the results of tests carried out by the Ezequiel Dias Foundation (Funed). The death occurred at Pirapora hospital on March 5th.

The numbers from the Arbovirus Case Monitoring Panel indicate that there are 241 confirmed cases of dengue in Buritizeiro and 287 probable ones.
