Russian media, aligned with Vladimir Putin, spread a false story claiming that King Charles had died unexpectedly on Sunday.

A fictitious death announcement, allegedly issued by Buckingham Palace, gained wide circulation in Russia, triggering the spread of fake news. While it is unclear whether Putin’s propaganda machine is directly involved, this coup followed criticism of Putin’s supposed electoral “triumph” in a contested presidential election.

The false announcement involving the British monarch was quickly dismissed by the British embassy, which emphasized that the reports were false. Initially, the Russian media published the false news, but later rectified the information.
