Lent and Holy Week are celebrated in all parishes in Albufeira, each presenting different solemnities, making the municipality a place of worship to which many faithful from other countries already travel.
Next Sunday, the Eucharist of the Blessing of the Palms will take place in all Parishes in the municipality of Albufeira.
At the Main Church of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, in Paderne, at 9:30 am; at the Parish Church of Nossa Senhora da Visitação, in Guia, and at the Church of Santa Ana, in Albufeira, at 10:30 and at the Church of S. José, in Ferreiras, at 3:30 pm.
The following week, all parishes hold various religious ceremonies. In Albufeira, on Maundy Thursday, March 28th, the Matrix receives the Evening Eucharist of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 pm. On the same day, at 9:30 pm, the Procession of Panels with Adoration of the Blessed Sacramentone of the most imposing religious manifestations, restored by Santa Casa da Misericórdia and supported by the Municipality.
The gathering is at the Capela da Misericórdia and departure is scheduled for 10:00 pm. The following day, the Passion of the Lord is celebrated, at 5:00 pm, in the same temple and, at 9:00 pm, Good Friday ends with the Procession of the Burial of the Lord, also in the Main Church.
On Saturday, March 30th, the Matrix hosts the Easter Vigil Celebration, at 10:00 pm and on Easter Sunday, at 10:00 am, the Resurrection Procession begins followed by the Eucharist, at 11:00 am.
In the neighboring parish of Ferreiras there is the Eucharist, on March 28th, at 9:30 pm and on Good Friday, the 29th, at 6:00 pm, the Adoration of the Cross takes place.
On Saturday morning, at 10:00, there is Laudes and Ephatta and at 22:00 the Easter Vigil. The celebrations, which all take place in the Church of S. José, end in the same place, with the Eucharist on Easter Sunday, at 4:00 pm.
Already in Padernereligious celebrations begin on the 28th, Maundy Thursday, with the Eucharist, at 6:30 pm, on the 29th, the Ceremony of Adoration of the Cross and Procession of the Burial of the Lord takes place, at 9:00 pm, and on Easter Day, At 10:00, the Resurrection Procession begins followed by the Eucharist.
In the parish of Guidethe Parish Church of Our Lady of the Visitation hosts the Celebration of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, at 4:00 pm.
On March 29th the Celebration of the Passion and Death of the Lord takes place at 3:00 pm, and on Easter Sunday the Eucharist of the Resurrection is celebrated.
